A tragic vehicle collision on Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance resulted in the death of a 31-year-old man from Inglewood. The accident took place on the 18800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard around 5:45 a.m. on Friday morning.

Torrance Police Department responded to the accident and discovered a gray 2024 Nissan Sentra that had collided with an electrical pole. At the time of the collision, two persons were inside the vehicle: a 46-year-old driver from Hawthorne and a 31-year-old passenger from Inglewood.

Both men were extracted from the wreckage. The driver was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical care. In contrast, the passenger was declared dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased individual has not been released, pending next of kin notification.

In response to this incident, the northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard near the crash site were closed for several hours. During this time, traffic investigators thoroughly examined the accident scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the car was moving at high speeds and lost control while negotiating a curve in the road, resulting in a collision with the electrical pole.

The Torrance Police Departments Traffic Division continues to investigate this matter further. They encourage any individual with relevant information about this crash to reach out to them at 310-618-5557.
